WHERE ARE WE NOW?

-Sources- -Top- -Bottom-

So where are we now? Nearing two years after the rise of the Trump presidency we have a divided country with protests, increasing personal assaults, federal government officials using their positions for partisan resistance and constant call for investigations/hearings with an obviously apparent two-tier justice system favoring the established elites. We say that due to the admissions of Hillary Clinton pertaining to her email scandal and the attempt to exonerate her immediately afterward while Trump who has never confessed to Russian impropriety is threatened with eternal special council and now there are threats of frivolous impeachment with little or no evidence in their hurled speculations. Who should we blame for these dysfunctions? Blame the academia and media establishments for years of indoctrinating the people and misinforming the populace.

THE MEDIA

Notice the media's old, established, typical networks and news-posters (newspapers) are always massaging their news feeds -- subtly or overtly -- interjecting their desired conclusions by presenting incomplete, slanted or outright false information. This is why such a large part of our society falls for the false narratives and staged panics. It's an endless supply of hearsay hit-pieces, conspiracy theories, coaxed outrages and less and less of the who-what-when-where-why of only the basic known and corroborated facts. There is way too much wild speculation, hammering repetition and over-analysis. The editors of these usual suspects are more interested in focusing on what accomplishes their agenda instead of what needs to be prioritized for time as newsworthy. They have built up much of the instability through their false justifications of which those who are rioting in our nation proclaim as truth. This is not to mention how their portrayals twist or neglect altogether how our constitutional republic really works as opposed to their erroneous and over-simplified, majority-rules democracy.

How convenient is it that just about all the late night talk shows are persistently anti-Trump and lean pro-Democrat? That passes as balance in the media, yes? Similar if you catch the broadcasts of 'Saturday Night Live' or the early morning news shows and the womyn-panelled topic shows. You may get a bit more crossfire on the Sunday morning news programs to feign balance, but in the end they are underpinned by the academia-media complex types. While there are exceptions, a good number of their experts and hosts are really there to polish the establishmentarian conclusions and dilute the efficacy of decentralized solutions. Then there are those workweek cable news shows that can be some of the worst offenders. Even some of the more balanced ones for counter will still have to spend time refuting what the more slanted herds are dishing out!

Wouldn't it be more interesting if shows like 'Meet The Press' or 'Face The Nation' had an actual studio audience to ask politicians, journalists and guest experts spontaneous, unrehearsed questions? How about a panel not of just journalists and the usual crowd but more citizenry of all walks? How about a moderator who isn't a political hack trying to steer into points for their agenda or carrying out a skewed inquisition but a more rounded and honest approach? And where are all the unaffiliated, independents and third-party perspectives? And shouldn't the news be more than obsessively focusing on what Trump says or does 24/7 day after day?

DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS

We notice the Democrat party is now even more eager to step up and push collectivist sentiments - not just at the polls but in the streets too. They are openly going socialist despite the counter claims of the old guard. No doubt they have a racialist strategy too which uses white guilt with anti-caucasian resentment to pressure for more freebies and special rights for minorities. The party's culture more and more says white males and those practicing traditional gender roles are an increasingly recognized threat to society - chastising in particular white culture, toxic masculinity and patriarchs. Don't they tend to dismiss or impugn married stay-at-home mothers as well? The attempt to 'Fatty Arbuckle' Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh helps illustrate such intents plus the precedence they seek with it will set them up to more easily bulldoze future opposition through the ability to apply punishments despite not having sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt:

Presumed Innocence or Assumed Guilt ?

More lunacy from Democrats: They actually think that requiring some form of photo I.D. to vote is an act of racial discrimination while banks, airlines, hotels, bars, employers, rentals, ticket issuers, etc. ask for such in great volume every day. Maybe because the police may ask to see photo I.D. they associate all such requests now as racism. Maybe minority communities up in arms, supporting Democratic rule and movements like BLM would prefer that the police were absent and instead had to show the Bloods or Crips their credentials.

As well they claim the indignity of "Show us your papers" required of illegal aliens is blatantly unfair. So along those lines Democrats tell us illegals should be eligible to vote, obtain driving licenses, get in-state tuition and other privileges of citizenship while citizens have to lose place in line. Actually Democrats intend to get rid of the notion of citizenship altogether with their open-borders agenda. Anyway, it is hardly surprising that the free-lunch party wants to hand the country out to any desired identity-politics group in order to gain votes and stay in perpetual power. National identity, cultural preservation, free thought and speech, freedom of religion, fiscal responsibility, national security, free market capitalism and especially true constitutional adherence are mere trade-offs towards their entitlement, nanny police-state where control freaks can put retribution on any notion of a traditionalist, constitutional republic with a merit-based economy that happens to be majority white and Christian to their dismay.

So why not demand that they practice what they preach when it comes to quotas in their officeholder selections? Thus no Democrat holding office should be a straight, white male nor Christian. Instead they all should be some type of minority or female and secular (or pagan or Islamic). Claiming to represent the middle class and posturing as protectors of the less fortunate while countering the rich -- all Democrats in office who are valued in income and assets sufficiently above middle class income level should resign. And while they are demanding the tearing down of Confederate monuments and banning Confederate flags, they must also consistently dissolve their own party which supported slavery, the Confederacy, Jim Crow and segregation. It's not just their past that is problematic -- today it is the party of Margaret Sanger's black abortion strategy along with policies encouraging fatherless single mothers dependent on social programs with a black Democrat leadership hustling redistribution in the massive urban-ghetto reservations which appeases the guilt of white liberal elites. Their media comrades are always trying to whip up race-riot frenzies in order to head-fake away the blame on leftists for the urban plight.

A KEYNESIAN-WEIMAR REPUBLIC OR A NATIONALIST-POPULIST FRONT?

But fear not America for there is but one alternative in our very expressive two-party system. The Weimar Republicans are coming to the rescue with a mix of their usual jawboning and Keynesian policies. Their record is unstable at best with a tax reform package passed but with another massive deficit budget bill. Constant promise and show-votes occurred to repeal Obamacare while he was in office and then after Trump comes in they fail to gather the necessary votes for repeal. Holding both houses of Congress and the presidency - where is the party's overall success in cutting the size of government and its wasteful spending? Where is the construction on the border wall? Where is the federal action against municipalities declaring themselves as sanctuary cities? Who is going to enforce against ignored subpoenas and towards meeting the unfulfilled requests for records asked of the various swamp players? Where is the bill in both houses to finally fortify our electric grid against EMP, solar flares and cyber attack? You won't get such things thanks to the likes of Senator Murkowski of AK who helped extinguish grid fortification against EMP years ago. Not from a party with turncoat senators like Bob Corker who rigged dubious passage of Obama's Iran nuclear deal. It is a party with establishmentarian senators like John McCain, Susan Collins or Mitch McConnell who would rather be mavericks in relation to constitutional and free market principles. It holds a cabal of senators plotting or succumbing to bipartisan deals or outright defeatist strategies. And where is former senator - now Attorney General - Jeff Sessions in confronting the spectacle of hammered devices pertaining to Hillary Clinton's email scandal? What is being done about the general corruption in the FBI & DOJ?.....And can somebody tell us what our purpose, goal and status at regular intervals is in Afghanistan?

Schizophrenia of the party is on display when you see the Freedom Caucus opposing one of the initial versions of Obamacare repeal as it was too diluted yet supported by Trump. On the other hand, stalwarts in the party refuse to adequately defend Trump from the eternal investigations by Democrats which are based on hearsay speculations of collusion. Credit does go to Trump where he has actually accomplished more good than expected such as his deregulatory actions helping lower unemployment, increasing GDP and wages. In addition there is his more constitutionally sound appointments and policies, his engaging of N. Korea through diplomacy backed by summit-or-annihilation and his relocation of the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem as promised by predecessors but never delivered. We await how the results of his playing chicken with tariffs will turn out. Perhaps the distance from some of those in the party's old guard is due to Trump's insults and demeanor but it would also seem that their resistance to him is rooted in their establishment allegiances especially when they oppose or discredit his more successful actions which have exposed their swampy slothfulness.

Even though they hold power, Republicans will not fully coalesce in order to attempt the needed major deregulations, shrink government and invoke true constitutional governance. Impotent like veto-less George W. Bush, time and again with 'RINOs' in their ranks -- their leadership exhibits equivocations when it comes time to actually erect a border wall, fix immigration, eliminate wasteful spending, rein in the NSA, EPA, IRS and other corrupting government departments. It is time to rally the people towards such actions! Yet when the Democrats threaten to eliminate ICE, why won't Republicans counter in threatening to shutdown the despised IRS and that useless Department of Education they always criticize? Instead while Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi work to incite their base, Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan are aloof to theirs giving 'have patience' excuse-athons of why they can't do so-and-so right now. It appears the Republican Party is complacent to suckle off the establishment's status quo with its powerful lobbyists, campaign donors, corporate interests and departments of government all puppeteering the RNC to play both sides. Similar for the DNC in how it rigs the system for their crony collectivists.

We ask - are you content with our two-party system or should we say 'complacent' ?

Two-Party Division

America is increasingly divided thanks to our two-party system. Time to enact range voting to cater to more parties.

'In both cases, about three-fourths of Democrats and Republicans lined up behind the plan they had been told belonged to their party. In fact, both sides were inclined to describe their support as intense, to say they "strongly" favored it — regardless of which policy it happened to be. '

'On abortion, for instance, fewer than half of Democrats say abortion should be allowed in most or all circumstances (the position of the Democratic platform). Only 18% of Republicans think abortion should never be allowed (the position of the Republican platform).'

'Abortion rights, the Affordable Care Act and same-sex marriage are issues that distinguish and divide the two parties. But in the survey, less than a third of Democrats and 20% of Republicans agree with their party on all three of them. The divide seems to have more to do with support of a party and its leaders — and dislike, even demonization, of the opposition.' ~ Susan Page, USA TODAY Published 6:00 a.m. ET March 6, 2013 | Updated 11:57 a.m. ET March 6, 2013

Officials' Partisan Resistance

'The Hatch Act restricts federal employee participation in certain partisan political activities. The political activity restrictions apply during the entire time of an employee’s federal service. Certain rules prohibit both on-duty and off-duty conduct.'

'Federal employees may not seek public office in partisan elections, use their official title or authority when engaging in political activity, solicit or receive contributions for partisan political candidates or groups, and engage in political activity while on duty.'

'Peter Strzok, who led both the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server and into allegations of Trump-Russia election collusion, texted his paramour, fellow FBI agent Lisa Page, that he would “stop” Trump from becoming president. The IG report found that this text “is not only indicative of a biased state of mind but, even more seriously, implies a willingness to take official action to impact the presidential candidate’s electoral prospects.” That text was sent on Aug. 8.'

'The IG refused to discount bias in that decision: “we did not have confidence that Strzok’s decision to prioritize the Russia investigation over following up on the (Clinton)-related investigative lead discovered on the Weiner laptop was free from bias.” ~ BY BEN SHAPIRO, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR — 06/15/18 05:05 PM EDT

'MARK LEVIN: I went through this major report here, I see several things. Number one, out of all the texts, all the documents, all the emails that have been reviewed. You know what's interesting, Sean? There is not a single pro-Trump text. There's not a single anti-Hillary text. There's not a single pro-Trump senior FBI official. There's not a single anti-Hillary FBI official. This was a cabal. And what these people had as their purpose, to interfere with a presidential election. '

'The five FBI officials involved in both probes did not just freely express their anti-Trump bias. They acted on their convictions, by declining to use the normal investigative techniques on the Clinton investigation and by softening language Comey used at his news conference to describe Clinton’s wrongful conduct, to make it seem the misconduct was not criminal.'

'And after Comey’s publicly stated that Clinton should not be criminally prosecuted for her improper email practices, new and important evidence surfaced in the FBI’s New York office about the email practices. Yet Strozk delayed any follow-up investigation for over a month.'

Video excerpts from the Strzok testification before the House on anti-Trump bias.

"For those who think we are wasting time in this committee, suppose all of this had been said about candidate Obama before he was elected, or even more topical, about Hillary Clinton while she was running in the same election. Would we be where we are today? The only honest answer is an absolute affirmative, "YES"! Of course we would be here because every single Democrat would be protesting bias and discrimination against their preferred candidates by an out-of-control FBI and DOJ. So please stop saying this doesn't matter and is only the product of conspiracy theory," Goodlatte told the committee.' ~ July 12, 2018, 8:18 PM

Late Night Talk Biased

“There’s no example of any kind of sustained attack like this on a politician,” Mr. Carter told me last week. “There’s a horde of writers writing jokes about Donald Trump every single night.” (And, he said, he wasn’t even counting the weekly shows like “Saturday Night Live,” “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” and “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.”)'

'We’re at the point now where Mr. Fallon has been widely criticized for being too apolitical — and was eviscerated for playfully mussing Mr. Trump’s hair. He adjusted his show accordingly, a shift for “Tonight,” which is, after all, the original late-night talk show.' ~ By Jim Rutenberg | Sept. 24, 2017

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/24/business/colbert-kimmel-and-the-politics-of-late-night.html

'At present, there is no late-night entertainment show whose host appears to be politically agnostic -- that is, willing to poke fun at everyone regardless of party or political leaning.'

'In the recent history of late-night TV, Jay Leno was the most adept at keeping his own political leanings private.'

'Their hard-core fans will never agree with that notion, but for middle-of-the-road late-night viewers, the tone can be hard to take night after night -- which is why many long-time late-night viewers weaned themselves off of the habit when the younger generation took over from Leno and Letterman.' ~ by Adam Buckman | February 8, 2018

'On the front page of the Washington Post's website this morning was a picture of "The Late Show" host Stephen Colbert and this headline: "Late-night hosts skewer Trump."

'How is this news exactly? That same headline could literally have run any day of the week for the past two years.'

'Let's remember: Colbert, Kimmel, Trevor Noah, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, et al., are not newsmakers. They aren't leaders. They're not even in the news business. They are entertainers, with dubious backgrounds.'

'The Huffington Post — a news site built on click bait — arguably started this trend by regularly featuring clips on its front page from Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show," in which he routinely mocked, skewered, lambasted, taunted, shamed and derided Republicans. When every late-night host decided that bashing Trump on a nightly basis was good for ratings, HuffPo amped up its "coverage." And the practice started to spread like a virus to other more mainstream news outlets.' ~ 7/17/2018

Even a liberalist committed anti-Trumper at the Atlantic can see the vicious hypocrisy of television's late-night leftist talk-shows...

'This combination of sentiments—the excoriating, profanity-strewn, ad hominem tirade against the president (and by extension against anyone who might agree, in any small measure, with his actions), and the saintly appeal for reaching out to the other side—dominates the political discussion inside the blue bubble these days. The excoriating outweighs the reaching-out at a ratio of about 20 to 1'

'Jon Stewart spin-off Stephen Colbert has clawed his way to the lead of the pack with a nightly audience just a bit over 3 million. But that’s a pale shadow of what late night used to be. Back in the day, Jay Leno regularly pulled in 6 million viewers and sometimes more than 10 million.'

'This is a good reason not to be to concerned over late-night hosts pushing us away with political diatribes when we just want to be entertained. The fact is that we were already drifting away, and they’re just making a desperate bid for attention in a fading medium.' ~ By Robert Tracinski | OCTOBER 5, 2017

Democratic Socialists

'Last year we looked at data from the Pew Research Center and found that the "center" of the Democratic Party had moved dramatically to left between 1994 and 2017. The center of the Republican Party had barely changed.'

"The Democratic Party is not a socialist party," Waters said. But then she followed that up by saying of socialist Bernie Sanders, "I consider him basically a Democrat."

Anti-Caucasian Democrats

“What I dislike is the left-wing media in America are trying to smear the bloke as a racist, and that’s completely not true,” the 61-year-old said. “There’s many, many problems with him as a human being, but he’s not that, and there just might be a chance something good will come out of that situation, because he terrifies politicians.”

'Democratic House leader Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) condemned his plan as an effort to “make America white again”. Others on the left dismissed the Trump plan as a “white supremacist ransom note.” One Democrat wrote: “The immigration plan is about one thing: white supremacy. It is about fundamentally changing the makeup of our country by removing people of color and preventing them from coming in the first place”.

'This feeling is being fed by the anti-white rhetoric found in the Democratic Resistance to Trump. “Trump is trying to make America white again”, writes liberal Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson. “Pandering to racists won’t get the Democrats anywhere,” warns The Nation, identifying the racists as those white working class voters who abandoned Clinton. 'Mr. Obama had begun his national political career with a speech at the Democratic convention in 2004, declaring that “there’s not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there’s the United States of America.” During his 2008 campaign, to give just one example, he turned down an invitation to Tavis Smiley’s State of the Black Union, an event Hillary Clinton attended.'

'During her 2016 campaign, Mrs. Clinton invoked concepts like intersectionality, white privilege, implicit bias and systemic racism. She warned of “deplorables,” while Mr. Obama once gave a speech arguing that “to wish away the resentments of white Americans, to label them as misguided or even racist, without recognizing they are grounded in legitimate concerns” was something that “widens the racial divide, and blocks the path to understanding.”

'It’s unlikely that these changes in racial attitudes will reverse, meaning that Democratic politicians will no longer have the option in general elections of using a Sister Souljah strategy to win over independent whites the way Bill Clinton did in 1992 — the Democratic base simply won’t allow it. Instead, prominent progressives like Bernie Sanders have tried to win over young voters by praising rappers like Cardi B.' ~ By Sean McElwee | May 23, 2018

"When the Democratic party and its mainstream spokespersons use the term 'white male' as an insult, when they describe vast swathes of white men in America as 'problematic,' when they call struggling, working-class white men 'privileged,' when they ask in their media if it’s okay just to hate men, and white men in particular, maybe white men hear it." ~ Noemie Emery | July 10, 2018

Toxic Masculinity

Here is a more sociological than political article that attempts both sides of the issues surrounding 'toxic masculinity':

“We brutalize [males] and then tell them the tradeoff is you get to be in a more powerful position,” said CJ Pascoe, a professor at the University of Oregon and author of 'Dude, You're a Fag: Masculinity and Sexuality in High School'. {- Can't make that one up -- Sounds like a great teen comedy! }

'As women began to show up in places where men had exclusively dominated — boardrooms, the armed forces, Congress — men who had once felt safe to talk as they please, now felt imprisoned by a culture of political correctness. The cultural shift has left some confused, others feeling powerless and a lot of men angry.'

'While men, specifically white men, have historically dominated economic and political institutions — they make up 80% of Congress, an unbroken line of male presidents, and have continued to wield extraordinary political power over women — rigid adherence to masculine stereotypes is destroying them. Men don’t live as long. They have a harder time making and maintaining fulfilling friendships. They commit suicide more often. Studies show school shootings are often linked to a masculinity crisis, real or perceived, on the part of the shooter.'

'The Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate groups, says the "manosphere" of anti-feminist websites which are part of the movement "are almost all thick with misogynistic attacks that can be astounding for the guttural hatred they express."

'Trump shows that traditional masculinity can still be rewarded. Where his critics see bluster, his supporters see competence. Where some see a beneficiary of family wealth and privilege, others see a successful entrepreneur.' ~ Alia E. Dastagir, USA TODAY | Published 2:22 p.m. ET March 31, 2017

'There has been a relentless ideological attack on masculinity, stemming from radical feminism, the most recent example of which is the bogus term “toxic masculinity.” It literally seeks to pathologize masculinity in ways that are profoundly harmful to the existential sense of self of young men.'

'Similarly, most of the traits and behaviors that are likely found under the rubric of “toxic masculinity” are precisely those that most women find attractive in an ideal mate! This is not a manifestation of “antiquated stereotypes.” It is a reality that is as trivially obvious as the existence of gravity, and no amount of campus brainwashing will ever alter these facts.' ~ Gad Saad Ph.D. | Posted Mar 08, 2018

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/homo-consumericus/201803/is-toxic-masculinity-valid-concept

Here are some of the radical 'toxic masculinity' beliefs:

'John Stoltenberg, whose theories kind of epitomize the fears of paranoid conservatives and undercut the more tepid critiques of machismo made by my fellow SJWs. In the past, the prominent feminist scholar has openly equated the idea of “healthy masculinity” with the oxymoron of “healthy cancer.”

'Every time a white person disses a black person, they're acting out the manhood structure of saving face from another white man's violence by targeting a third party. You can see this happening institutionally, globally... It's all the same story of a gender identity that doesn't exist except by putting down somebody.'

'I don't use the term “toxic masculinity.” One of the problems with it is that it implies that there's some better manhood out there, that there's a good manhood and a bad manhood.'

'there's no such thing as a man and a woman.' ~ By Wilbert L. Cooper | Jul 26 2018

'Beverly I. Fagot {-You just can't make that one up!}, the late researcher and author of The Influence of Sex of Child on Parental Reactions to Toddler Children, found that parents gave positive reinforcement to all children when they exhibited “same-sex preferred” behaviors (as opposed to “cross-sex preferred”).'

'It’s critical that we begin taking more seriously what we do to little boys, how we do it, and the high emotional cost exacted by masculinity, which turns emotionally whole little boys into emotionally debilitated adult men.' {- Really? Sounds broad-bush.}

'We have to move far beyond our outdated ideas of masculinity, and get past our very ideas about what being a man is.' ~ KALI HOLLOWAY | JUNE 12 2015

This article, like progressivism in general, does not properly observe both sides of the coin in coming to its conclusions or weighing the long term factors or consequences. Take encouraging boys to be more emotional. If nurture is to overcome nature then would we have a generation of men who are as effective protectors and competitors on the battlefield or in the areas of strong endeavor where manliness is valued? Too much bottling up of emotions may cause detrimental expression down the road but will encouraging men to act more on how they feel as opposed to being more objective always be of an advantage when they are tempted to strongly express their feelings via their more powerful dispositions? That may just make things worse. In other words maybe men need more rationalized conditioning to control the onslaught of their impending testosterone.

Parents without an agenda will tell you that their offspring demonstrate differences attributed to sex as they continue to develop and therefore differences in attitude can be innate, not just the result of parenting styles. And how about re-instilling some of the values and morality that postmodern society has abandoned? That might make things better for both men and women in becoming functioning people.

'Boys and young men are so routinely expected to betray their better natures, to smother their consciences, to renounce the best of themselves and submit to something low and mean.' {- But kids have always had a cruel streak and what about mean girls?}

'We’ve scraped our culture bare of ritual pathways to adulthood. There are lots of reasons for having clear-felled and burnt our own traditions since the 1960s, and some of them are very good reasons. But I’m not sure what we’ve replaced them with.' {- Well the progressive nanny-state didn't help much!}

'A man in manacles doesn’t fully understand the threat he poses to others. Even as he’s raging against his bonds. Especially as he’s raging against his bonds. When you’re bred for mastery, when you’re trained to endure and fight and suppress empathy, how do you find your way in a world that cannot be mastered?' {-Someone has to haul in the sacks of potatoes before someone else can cook the fries!}

'Boys need help. And, yes, men need fixing – I’m mindful of that. Males arrive in our community on the coattails of an almost endless chain of unexamined privilege. I don’t deny that for a second. But patriarchy is bondage for boys, too.' ~ Tim Winton | Sun 8 Apr 2018

Australia was derived from a penal colony on an island continent full of crocs, snakes and spiders! They have their rough edges and a penchant for drink. Fatty Arbuckle

"Bambina" Maude Delmont, who frequently set-up famous people in order to blackmail them, claims that Arbuckle herded 26-year-old Virginia Rappe into his bedroom and said, "I've waited for this a long time,'

'The papers went wild with the story. Some articles stated Arbuckle had crushed Rappe with his weight, while others said he had raped her with a foreign object (the papers went into graphic details).'

'In the newspapers, Arbuckle was assumed guilty and Virginia Rappe was an innocent, young girl. The papers excluded reporting that Rappe had a history of numerous abortions, with some evidence stating she might have had another a short time before the party.'

'The public reaction to Arbuckle was fierce. Perhaps even more than the specific charges of rape and murder, Arbuckle became a symbol of Hollywood's immorality. Movie houses across the country almost immediately stopped showing Arbuckle's movies.'

'Being acquitted was not the end to Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle's problems. In response to the Arbuckle scandal, Hollywood established a self-policing organization that was to be known as the "Hays Office." ~ by Jennifer Rosenberg | Updated May 09, 2018

https://www.thoughtco.com/fatty-arbuckle-scandal-1779625

'But at the hospital, Delmont told police that Rappe had been raped by Arbuckle at the party and on Sept. 11, 1921, the comedian was arrested.'

'Both Arbuckle and Rappe’s names were dragged through the mud in the competition to print the most salacious rumors. Publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst gleefully noted that the scandal had “sold more papers than the sinking of the Lusitania.” By the time Arbuckle went to trial for manslaughter, his public reputation was already ruined.'

'Delmont was never actually called to the stand because prosecutors knew her testimony would never hold up in court due to her ever-changing stories.... It also didn’t help Delmont’s credibility that she’d sent telegrams to attorneys saying “WE HAVE ROSCOE ARBUCKLE IN A HOLE HERE CHANCE TO MAKE SOME MONEY OUT OF HIM.”

'But by this time, the scandal had so devastated Arbuckle’s career that the jury who acquitted him felt obliged to read an apologetic statement that concluded with “We wish him success and hope that the American people will take the judgment of fourteen men and women that Roscoe Arbuckle is entirely innocent and free from all blame.” ~ By Gina Dimuro | June 25, 2018 - Updated June 26, 2018

'Hollywood decided to put an end to Arbuckle’s career, provoked by the outrageous scandal that blackened the reputation of the roly-poly, joyous comic.'

'Arbuckle’s defense that Rappe’s ruptured bladder was a result of a chronic cystitis condition aggravated by massive intakes of alcohol was disputed by State witnesses who filled the media with outrageous headlines.'

'Despite the third jury’s decision in Arbuckle’s case, the exhibitors and studios had already pronounced the star guilty, blacklisting his name and unreleased work. He continued to work as a director under the name William B. Goodrich, but was unable to regain any popularity in front of the camera. Shortly after his 46th birthday, he died in his sleep from a heart attack.' ~ Magda Origjanska |Mar 9, 2018

https://www.thevintagenews.com/2018/03/09/fatty-arbuckle/

'A man quietly followed her into the room, locked the door, and threw her onto the bed, falling on top of her. It was the last thing Rappe remembered before losing consciousness during an incident that became the first major Hollywood sex scandal, a case that in some ways prefigured the current phantasmagoria of sexual predation roiling both politics and the entertainment industry.' {- Where did this version of events come from?}

'Interestingly, the scandal also unleashed waves of activism. At the preliminary hearings for Arbuckle, hundreds of women, many attired in their Sunday best, showed up to express solidarity with Rappe. It was an extraordinary scene for the time, women rallying against assault, and evokes comparisons to contemporary protests — the 2017 Women’s March chief among them.'

'Afterward, the jury took the extraordinary step of reading a formal apology to the actor, one that is cringe-worthy in its casual sexism.'

'Too often the stories implied she brought death upon herself as a sexually active woman.'

'There is no record that Rappe ever called herself a “feminist” — a word that was just beginning to be used in the United States at the time — but why not give her that posthumous honor?' ~ By Gabrielle Bellot | NOV. 29, 2017

This out of left field piece in version of events, its activist tone and considering the publication itself seems to illustrate the left's penchant for leaning towards a particular verdict in order to bolster their overall societal views.

'San Francisco District Attorney Matthew Brady saw the case as the perfect opportunity to jump-start his career in politics, but he was beginning to have trouble with his star witness, Delmont.... Also known as “Madame Black,” Delmont procured young women for parties where wealthy male guests soon found themselves accused of rape and blackmailed into paying Delmont.'

'Still, Brady proceeded to trial. The newspapers never questioned Delmont’s version of events, and they kept flogging Arbuckle. His reputation was in a shambles, even after his friends Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin vouched for his character.'

'The defense also had witnesses with damaging information about Rappe’s past, but Arbuckle wouldn’t let them testify, he said, out of respect for the dead.'

'Arbuckle allowed his attorneys to call the witnesses who had known Rappe to the stand. He had little choice; his funds were depleted—he would spend more than $700,000 on his defense—and his career was presumed to be dead.' ~ By Gilbert King | November 8, 2011

'Adela remembered her father speaking to her about Fatty's plight, "They will make it very tough on him, because of his weight. A man of that enormous fatness being charged with the rape of a young girl will prejudice them, even just the thought of it."

"District Attorney Matthew Brady ... must have been beside himself. An intensely ambitious man, he planned to run for governor. Here presented to him in the most sensational terms, was the scandal of the century-an apparent open and shut case."

'The ambitious Mr. Brady had a very helpful ally in William Randolph Hearst --- the undisputed champion of yellow journalism. Early director, and friend of Arbuckle's, Viola Dana recalled,'

"Hearst was instrumental in wanting the motion picture industry in Northern California (i.e. San Francisco), and instead it settled in Southern California. I think that was part of his motive in crucifying Arbuckle."

'Arbuckle's wife stuck by him throughout the trial --- such was the public's scorn that she was shot at while entering the courthouse --- but the producers in Hollywood forbade his movie friends to testify on his behalf fearing that their careers would be besmirched and that the scandal would cut into profits.' ~ Wanda Felix

Voter I.D.

'A total of 34 states have laws requesting or requiring voters to show some form of identification at the polls, all of which are in force in 2018. '

'Proponents see increasing requirements for identification as a way to prevent in-person voter impersonation and increase public confidence in the election process.' ~ Wendy Underhill | 5/15/2018

'Voter ID, Suppression Fail...If voter ID laws were created to suppress minority voting, they're actually not doing that.' ~ Ronald Bailey|Jul. 17, 2015 1:30 pm

There is argument being made that voter impersonation is rare and thus photo I.D. is overkill but is it possible their methodology misses fraud without a requirement of photo I.D.? Do the dead on the registration rolls make complaints? Even if the numbers are low - How about the elections that are very close? Isn't preventing photo I.D. requirements silly if the registration process itself requires similar level of documentation? Presenting a photo I.D. is required in many other transactions anyway - where are all the claims of suppression/discrimination over all of that? Besides, should people who lack the incentive to get a photo I.D. within a typical two-year electoral fallow period be considered functionally competent enough to cast a vote?

https://reason.com/blog/2015/07/17/voter-id-suppression-fail

'North Carolina announced in April 2014 that 13,416 dead voters were registered, and 81 of them recently had voted. Among 35,750 North Carolinians also registered in other states, 765 voted in November 2012, both inside and outside the Tarheel State.'

'Craftier liberals have inched away from the baseless “Vote fraud = Loch Ness Monster” argument. Now, some claim, vote fraud is not “widespread.”

'Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-Va.), a long-time Clinton confidante, vetoed a bill in February that would have required probes of elections in which the number of ballots cast exceeded the number of voters eligible to cast them. How could any honest person oppose such a measure?' ~ By Deroy Murdock July 14, 2017

https://nypost.com/2017/07/14/the-vote-fraud-that-democrats-refuse-to-see/

In tandem with voter I.D. considerations we should overhaul the registration process as well. Would photo I.D. help verify and streamline a new, modernized system?

' Approximately 24 million—one of every eight—voter registrations in the United States are no longer valid or are significantly inaccurate.'

'More than 1.8 million deceased individuals are listed as voters.'

'Approximately 2.75 million people have registrations in more than one state.'

'Additionally, in 2008, more than two million provisional ballots—issued when a voter encounters a problem at the polls— were cast, requiring election officials to verify each voter’s eligibility and determine whether their vote counted. Almost half of the uncounted ballots for which there are detailed data were rejected because the voter was not on the registration rolls.'

Open Polls, Borders

“A majority of 54 percent of Democrats said illegal aliens in the U.S. should be given the right to vote, so long as they pay taxes – [even though] illegal aliens paying taxes ensures the identity theft of Americans,” Breitbart News announced from a new Rasmussen Reports poll.'

“Giving the illegal alien population the right to vote would almost ensure Democrat dominance in statewide and national elections, as foreign populations are vastly more likely to favor Democrats over Republicans,” Binder stressed. “[D]istricts with booming foreign-born populations have become Democrat strongholds, and the country’s legal immigration system is set to import at least 8 million new foreign-born voters in the next two decades.”

'Late last month, the City by the Bay – which proudly declares itself a “sanctuary city” to provide a safe harbor for illegal aliens running from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to evade facing the law and possible deportation – took the first step toward letting illegals vote in state and general elections.' ~ Wednesday, August 1, 2018 | Michael F. 'San Francisco is permitting “undocumented immigrants,” as political correctness demands we label them, to register to vote this November in local school board elections. Who doubts this is the first step by the left and Democrats toward full voting rights in state and eventually in federal elections?'

“People want to ignore the data and the fact that ... 89 percent of everybody we arrested last year had a criminal history, either a criminal conviction or pending criminal charges,” Homan said. “We are prioritizing against the criminals. And abolishing ICE, there are going to be (fewer) criminals locked up. Over 100,000 criminal aliens have been arrested this year walking the streets of this country. That wouldn’t happen if ICE wasn’t there.”

'I went up to (Capitol) Hill, along (with) the head of CBP and CIS, and told them loopholes need to be fixed. One of the loopholes is the Flores Settlement agreement, which would allow us to detain families together in a dorm setting until they see a judge. But they failed to repair it. They failed to address it. They don't want to do their job. It’s much easier pointing the fingers at law enforcement.” ~ by Cal Thomas | Thu, 7/19/2018

'We know the law prohibits their voting in federal elections until they are formally citizens, but California agencies and politicians seem to think they are above the law. Other than the laws against allowing people who are here illegally to vote, there is a logical reason they should not do so.'

'Many citizens wonder why those of the Democratic Party’s left push so hard for welcoming all illegal migrants into California even though it is a violation of federal immigration law. Aside from the alt-left working a socialist agenda, Democrats seek to regain political control they lost from the last national elections.'

'Why permit migrants who are here in violation of federal law to join protestors against our own government or ideology? Protesting against our ideology is a seditious act, a federal crime next to treason, regardless of political party.' ~ Colleen Britton | April 10, 2018

'In addition, noncitizens and illegal aliens are counted when apportioning congressional districts and when allocating state electors under the Electoral College. This means noncitizens play a role in determining how many congressional representatives a state has and exert an indirect influence on presidential elections.'

'In addition, there is evidence that both foreign nationals who are lawfully present in the United States and illegal aliens have voted in recent elections. During this election cycle, noncitizens have been discovered on voter registration rolls in both Virginia and Pennsylvania.'

'The most frequent objections to these reasonable measures are that voter fraud is a “myth” and that voter ID requirements will unreasonably interfere with the right to vote. However, these claims seem patently unreasonable given that there have been numerous reports of unlawful voting by aliens but no virtually no reports of voters being disenfranchised.'

'Because so many states continue to issue driver’s licenses to noncitizens, it is relatively easy for aliens to commit voter fraud through the Motor-Voter system..... Most often, they are added to the voter rolls without any attempt to verify the applicant’s citizenship.'

'In 2014, a study released by a team of professors from Old Dominion University and George Mason University estimated that approximately 6.4 percent of noncitizens voted In the 2008 presidential election. They also surmised that 2.2 percent voted in the 2010 midterm election. In addition, the study estimated that 80 percent of noncitizens who appeared to have voted cast their ballots in favor of one party. Noncitizens are believed to have voted in these elections in numbers great enough to have affected the outcome.' ~ November 2016

Thirty-five voted no. And the other 133 dodged the issue altogether by voting "present." Democrats complained that the vote was just a political stunt.'

'Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are now pushing a bill that would effectively establish "catch and release" as federal policy.'

'Recently, Philadelphia became a sanctuary city and guess what: some illegal alien raped a child. Mayor Jim Kenney was dancing for glee when a judge granted the City of Brotherly Love sanctuary status. Is he jumping for glee now?'

'Democrats care more about illegal aliens than American citizens. They don’t care that these bad illegals are raping children. They want these people’s votes—despite the cases of child rape and murder that are inflicted upon the citizen population by illegals, which wouldn’t have happened if we enforced the laws and got the people who shouldn’t be here the hell out of our country.' ~ Matt Vespa |Posted: Aug 09, 2018

Slavery, Segregation Dems

Here we have a not-so-strong defense against the racist history of the Democrat Party:

'Later, President and Democrat Andrew Johnson opposed equal rights for black people even though he was Lincoln’s vice-president.'

'The Democratic Party remained identified with the former slave states and racist politics for decades, with heavies like Senator Richard Russell (D-Georgia) arguing against federal anti-lynching legislation on the basis of what he called minority rights (the minority being the former slave states).'

'The only difference between these regions is that institutional racism was simply more obvious in the former Confederacy. Bigoted attitudes and systems have always existed in so-called PC liberal bastions.' ~ by Alberto Luperon | Nov 7th, 2016

https://www.mediaite.com/online/yes-democrats-supported-slavery-but-that-misses-the-point/

'The Democratic Party identified itself as the "white man's party" and demonized the Republican Party as being "Negro dominated," even though whites were in control.''

'The South remained a one-party region until the Civil Rights movement began in the 1960s. Northern Democrats, most of whom had prejudicial attitudes towards blacks, offered no challenge to the discriminatory policies of the Southern Democrats.' ~ Richard Wormser

https://www.thirteen.org/wnet/jimcrow/stories_org_democratic.html

Not sure about referencing Marxist sources but this indepth treatise on the Democratic party's history sounds reasonable for the first few pages at least. It is very long and historical so this post unable to account for whole work. Perhaps the strategy is to expose the Democrat party and have it replaced with a socialist party.

'The conflicts outside of the political system led to a dramatic change in the two-party system. Many Northern capitalists were tired of compromise and wanted to weaken their opponents by striking at the heart of their system. They formed a new political party which was thoroughly opposed to the Democrats, the Republican Party. The Republican Party, like the Whig Party, fought for the economic interests of the Northern capitalists. Republicans Cave on Omnibus

'Republicans are calling themselves hypocritical when it comes to the $1.3 trillion omnibus approved by Congress this week.'

“It’s the very thing that we belittled Nancy Pelosi [D-Calif.] over, when she said ‘we have to pas the bill to see what’s in it,’ ” he said. “You have a 2,200-page bill ... and you got 24 hours, maybe 36 — it’s just, it’s insane. It’s no way to govern.”

'The 2,232-page bill was written in secret by leaders of both parties, unveiled Wednesday night, and passed by the House this afternoon. If the Senate doesn’t pass the budget by Friday, the government will shut down. So much for the 72-hour rule Republicans sought back during Barack Obama’s first term.'

Republican Senate Incompetence

The most RINO Republicans in the Senate according to Conservative Review gives Murkowski a grade of F at 22% along with the state of Alaska's lone representative at 39% with he having been in D.C. for 45 years! What the hell is going on in the Alaska Republican Party? You'll find some other Republican half-asses listed like Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, Lamar Alexander, Paul Ryan, Bob Corker & Richard Burr. Yes - some of the usual Sunday morning talk show-ers who like to jawbone about all they intend to do -- Just be patient though cause Rome wasn't burnt down in a day! But hey, its likely those running again can easily be re-elected. WHERE IS THE THIRD PARTY REVOLUTION AS YOUR COUNTRY GOES DOWN THE TUBE?!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.conservativereview.com/top-25-rinos/

'Given their role in the matter, Senate Republicans could speed things up. To do so, they must refuse to cooperate with Democrats in delaying presidential nominations and instead enforce the Senate’s existing rules governing the confirmation process.'

'In other words, instead of keeping the nomination in question pending before the Senate to speed up the confirmation process, Republicans seek Democrats’ permission to suspend consideration. And they have done this on 7 out of the 15 nominees on which cloture was filed between January 1 and March 19 of this year.'

'To be sure, Democrats are slowing down the confirmation process. But that is no excuse for Republicans to make it easier for them to do so, much less to block Trump’s nominees themselves.' ~ by James Wallner | March 26, 2018

Lisa Murkowski

'Nevertheless, Murkowski is not the typical conservative Republican in the Senate, as she often defies party for her state.'

'The American Conservative Union gives her a lifetime conservative rating of 59.63 percent.' ~ by Phil McCausland / Jul.29.2017

'In one of the most dangerous, yet underreported threats to national security, we remain highly vulnerable to an Electro-Magnetic Pulse attack. A nuclear device exploding some 20 miles above our shores could wipe out the electrical grid in 20 to 30 states, if not nationwide, for a year or more.'

'Besides EMP, major solar storms could also stop the electrical grid.'

'Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., and Rep. Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., are co-sponsors of a bill with bi-partisan support, the Secure High-Voltage Infrastructure from Lethal Damage Act, H.R. 2417, known as the SHIELD Act. It would force electric utility companies to harden our grid against EMP and solar storm threats.'

'Yet passing it won't be easy, as NERC has powerful friends in Washington. A similar 2010 bill called the "Grid Act" sailed through the House of Representatives before being killed in the Senate by Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska. And though introduced in June 2013, the SHIELD Act has been languishing in the House Energy & Commerce Committee under Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich.' ~ By J.D. Gordon | Nov. 7, 2013

'The original bill, known as the GRID Act, authorized the federal government to take emergency measures to protect some 300 giant power transformers around the country. It passed the House of Representatives by a unanimous voice vote in August, an unusual show of bipartisan support in this Congress.'

'But when it went to the Senate, the bill was gutted of the measures to protect the power grid from EMP attack by Murkowski and committee chairman Jeff Bingamon, D-N.M., while other portions of the bill were added to her own energy bill, S. 1462, the American Clean Energy Act of 2009.'

“Now is the time to act to secure the electric grid, not after a major incident has occurred,” said Mississippi Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.' ~ Thursday, 14 | October 2010

In 2010 and 2013 this Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) was blocking legislation to sure up our grid. In 2017 she tells us how important it is to have this taken care of and then seemingly jawbones about how the industry should look into it. What the hell is wrong with this woman? She needs to explain her actions on this critical issue which has left us defenseless for years now!!!!!!!

Isn't this the typical Republican party hypocrisy in getting solutions implemented?.......

'EMP attacks and weapons are an important issue, said committee chairwoman U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, (R-AK), due to everyone’s increasing use of electronics, as well as “the continued proliferation of nuclear technology.”

“Our efforts to understand a potential EMP burst aren’t new, but there’s a renewed focus on understanding the effects of such an attack, mitigating the effects and recovering from it,” Murkowski said.'

'Murkowski called on both the federal and state governments to share EMP knowledge and expertise with U.S. utilities and energy companies “on a timely basis” and to approve or help guide related reliability standards that could aid the industry in protecting “critical energy assets.”

'Ambassador Henry F. Cooper, former director of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Strategic Defense Initiative, agreed and lambasted the federal government for “grossly inadequate” efforts to secure the grid against low-probability, high-risk EMP attacks.'

“I am becoming so disillusioned with the dysfunctionality of the federal government that I am now spending most of my time working on this problem from the bottom up,” said Cooper, a Ph.D. engineer who said he’s working with Duke Energy on a related pilot study in North Carolina.' ~ Published on May 09, 2017 by Kim Riley

......With little help from legislative saboteur to this effort - Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK).

https://dailyenergyinsider.com/news/4988-electromagnetic-pulse-sends-shock-waves-senate-energy-committee/

'Subcommittee. Sen. Murkowski has served on the energy committee since joining the Senate in 2002, and was the committee’s ranking Republican member from 2009 through 2014.'

'In early 2013, Murkowski crafted a comprehensive policy blueprint, Energy 20/20: A Vision for America’s Energy Future, which provides a detailed picture of the nation’s energy outlook and recommends long overdue reforms. Sen. Murkowski has since added to that blueprint with papers on the economic and energy security benefits of increased international trade of energy commodities, the problem of energy insecurity in America, the link between energy and water, and challenges facing electric reliability.'

So where has she been on protecting our grid from EMP all this time? What is her excuse and why is the Republican party not doing anything to hold her accountable? Our lives are at stake!!!!!!!!!

Bob Corker

'Corker changed the structure of the bill from allowing Congress to reject a deal with Iran to allowing lawmakers to reject the lifting of legislative sanctions, which will be key to any final deal with Tehran. That change brought aboard a number of Democrats like Tim Kaine of Virginia, who were persuaded by Corker’s constitutional argument, and in February they introduced a newly revised bipartisan version.'

'But as Cardin was moving the bill to the left, Corker was working aggressively to keep Republicans at bay. He spoke extensively to Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, who wanted the Iran deal to win approval by two-thirds of the Senate, much like a treaty....In the Senate basement, he had a lengthy conversation with Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) about eliminating a certification requirement, a concession that angered some Republicans.' ~ By MANU RAJU and BURGESS EVERETT | 04/14/2015

https://www.politico.com/story/2015/04/ben-cardin-bob-corker-iran-deal-116979

'If, as Corker & Co. claim, the sanctions as written had actually given the president the power to terminate said sanctions, Obama could simply have decreed them null and void. Unlike many of this president’s executive actions, such a decree would have been perfectly legal if truly rooted in statutory law.'

'Unfortunately, that’s where Corker’s INARA came in, “facilitating President Obama’s Iran-deal path through Congress,” just as NR’s editors said it did. Corker accomplished this by undermining the same Constitution that his former staffers accuse others of failing to understand.'

'Republicans signed on to Corker’s INARA in droves. And why not? The INARA’s theatrical process allowed them to posture as fierce “anti-Iran hardliners” (to borrow the authors’ description) even as it guaranteed Obama’s victory. '

'And then, to add insult to injury, because Corker and McConnell did not get Democrats to agree that there would be a vote if the INARA “resolution of disapproval” process went forward, Democrats were able to block the vote. Thus, Republicans even failed to get Democratic senators on record supporting Obama’s Iran deal — one of the purported benefits Corker had told us the INARA would achieve.' ~ By ANDREW C. MCCARTHY | November 19, 2016 9:00 AM

https://www.nationalreview.com/2016/11/obama-iran-deal-corker-bill/

'Under Article 2, Section 2 the president must get a two-thirds vote in favor of any treaty to make it a part of the law of the land. Instead, Mr. Corker’s provision required opponents of the deal to muster a two-thirds vote — 66 senators — to vote against it. It was a pretense to conceal another Republican cave-in to Mr. Obama.'

'Mr. Corker taught Mr. Obama the lesson the president is adapting now to suit his desire to bind America to the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. This time, Mr. Obama is just eliminating the Senate middleman. Mr. Corker, having made the Senate irrelevant, is now grousing about its irrelevance. In obvious retrospect, it would have been better if the Senate had done nothing rather than pass Mr. Corker’s measure.' ~ By Jed Babbin | Tuesday, August 30, 2016

John McCain

Here we see the result of how John McCain approached important legislation like immigration reform with Ted Kennedy of course.

'McCain-Kennedy does not include safeguards to ensure that the essential visa worker program will be properly executed.'

'The bill also fails to adequately enhance detention and removal.'

'Finally, the bill does not appropriately engage state and local law officials in immigration enforcement.'

Note how the media praises the bipartisan nature of John McCain - fooling the people into thinking that always giving half to the progressive socialist left is just practicing reasonable governance. 'We already knew Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) would probably vote against the Republican plan to overhaul the Affordable Care Act, even the “skinny” version that didn’t do much more than repeal the individual mandate and would, some senators hoped, set up negotiations with the House over a real health care plan.'

'In the end, McCain stood dramatically before the Senate chair. He turned his thumb down.' ~ By Dylan Scott | Updated Aug 27, 2018

The article states that McCain opposed the lack of due process in the Senate regarding repeal of Obamacare as his reason for voting 'no' on repeal. So a bill that was rammed through the Senate instigating Obamacare and causing havoc cannot be as quickly repealed? Even if we are to buy such argument the Republican party as a whole should have gotten their act together to repeal the legislation in a more orderly manner. They are insincere cowards at best. Some are now riding on the Obamacare kickbacks and others are just to afraid of taking a stand and losing votes.

'In 1996, she returned to the campaign trail to run for the seat Republican Sen. William Cohen vacated to serve as Secretary of Defense under President Bill Clinton. 'According to the site, Collins has cast a liberal vote over a conservative vote 90% of the time. That is an astounding number for someone who was elected as a Republican. A 50/50 split makes you a moderate; a 10/90 split makes you a Democrat Senator.' ~ February 24, 2017 | By John Floyd

'But a detailed review of Collins’s voting record reveals that she is anything but a maverick when it comes to the courts, consistently supporting nominees put forth by Republican presidents, indicating that activists and Democrats probably will be disappointed.'

“I would not support a nominee who demonstrated hostility to Roe v. Wade, because that would mean to me that their judicial philosophy did not include a respect for established decisions, established law,” Collins said on CNN Sunday.'

'Collins is facing enormous pressure from the left, as Senate Democrats face few options to stop Trump’s pick other than persuading her and Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, another pro-abortion rights Republican, to join their slim minority. 'Consider the fate of President Trump’s $15 billion rescission bill. Trump’s proposed package of spending cuts were introduced by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, who was tired of waiting for his party leadership to get around to it.'

'The proposal seemed on track to pass until Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., out of nowhere, registered an objection and took down the entire bill. Burr’s excuse? He wasn’t guaranteed a vote on his amendment to remove a favored spending program from the bill.'

'Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., was having none of it. Despite having voted numerous times in support of the policy Lee was proposing, McConnell declared it detrimental and inappropriate to the appropriations process, allegedly telling Lee the vote would be too political, allowing vulnerable Democrats to support a good policy on the eve of the midterms.'

Forty-eight percent disapproved, putting his net approval just among Republicans at minus 13 points. Among Republican officials respondents were asked to rate, McConnell's GOP approval rating was easily the lowest in his own party.'

'Frustration over the Senate's inability to deliver on a signature GOP campaign promise to "repeal and replace" Obamacare could be contributing heavily to McConnell's low marks with Republicans. “The DOJ, under Jeff Sessions, is covering up a scandal that exposes the entire Russia narrative as a hoax,” he told Dobbs. “It is within Jeff Sessions’ power to demolish this Russia narrative once and for all, charge the Pakistanis with hacking Congress, and expose the Democrats’ hypocrisy and negligence… This case is open and shut, and Jeff Sessions is refusing to bring the charges.”

'What he doesn’t seem to have realized yet is that Sessions has recused himself from Clinton matters too. And he did it when there was still time for Trump to put a halt to the hiring process. If only Trump had listened to Sessions’ testimony at his confirmation hearing.' ~ Victoria Bassetti | July 26, 2017

By picking Sessions who was involved in Trump's campaign we now have a Recuser-in-Chief instead of an Attorney General. This is one fine example why the Commonwealth Party advocates that the Attorney General be chosen by the U.S. Marshalls two years after the presidential inauguration.

Trump Tariffs

'Republicans on Capitol Hill were fuming after the White House abruptly announced it would begin imposing steel and aluminum tariffs Friday on US allies Canada, Mexico and the European Union.'

'The move Thursday came after Republicans had tried to convince the administration for months to target China with tariffs rather than US trading partners, and it could trigger Republicans on Capitol Hill to consider taking action against their own President on trade.'

"When it comes to unfairly traded steel and aluminum, Mexico, Canada, and Europe are not the problem—China is. This action puts American workers and families at risk, whose jobs depend on fairly traded products from these important trading partners. And it hurts our efforts to create good-paying US jobs by selling more 'Made in America' products to customers in these countries," the Texas Republican's statement said.' ~ By Phil Mattingly, Lauren Fox and Ted Barrett, CNN | Updated 6:39 PM ET, Thu May 31, 2018

“By increasing the cost to manufacture a car, the tariffs will lead to higher vehicle prices for all automakers — foreign and domestic,” said Mr. Blunt. “These higher costs will, in turn, lead to lower demand, and lower U.S. auto sales and production. Ultimately, this will lead to fewer jobs in the auto industry.”

'Bryan Riley, director of the National Taxpayers Union Free Trade Initiative, noted that more than 98 percent of the 2,256 public comments submitted to the Commerce Department were opposed to the auto tariffs.'

“From a macroeconomic perspective, I don’t see a trade war throwing the economy off track unless it escalates a lot more and starts to effect global supply chain and global finance,” Mr. Bernstein said.'

'The EU vowed to retaliate with higher tariffs on American goods.'

'The EU currently levies a 10 percent duty on cars, compared with America’s 2.5 percent tariff.' ~ By S.A. Miller and Dave Boyer - The Washington Times - Thursday, July 19, 2018

Incumbent Advantage

'After the stunning primary losses of Reps. Joseph Crowley and Michael Capuano — both longtime incumbents with loads of clout in the Democratic Party — it’s easy to think of incumbents being swept out in record numbers. But that’s really not the case. So far this cycle, four House incumbents have lost primaries. In addition to Crowley and Capuano, Republicans Mark Sanford and Robert Pittenger also got booted this year. That’s about average for non-redistricting cycles, a little less than four members per year since 1968. Greater primary losses by incumbents in redistricting years can often be attributed to new congressional maps, and not necessarily an anti-incumbent wave.' ~ Stephanie Akin | Posted Sep 6, 2018 5:01 AM

Y'all still love those incumbents don't ya? Party powers may change but the establishmentarian collusion towards decline and bankruptcy will not change for the good.
